Glass Workshops are available at Balingup at The Brookdale Homestead, a fully restored heritage building in a valley surrounded by picturesque rolling green hills, with a view of wildlife and farm animals.

Matthew holds a variety of glass making workshops at the Fremantle Arts Centre throughout the year.

INTRODUCTION TO THE ART OF GLASS BEADMAKING

This workshop covers a variety of techniques from its humble beginnings, fashioned by ancient hands on the banks of the Euphrates through the Baroque to be finally reformed by the modernist design driven 21 st century.

The art of bead making includes surface finishes and sculptural techniques. All materials, tools and a gourmet lunch will be included in the price of $110.

INTRODUCTION TO THE ART OF STAINED GLASS USING COPPER FOIL TECHNIQUE

This workshop will guide you through the time honoured art of stained glass with the copper foil technique developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany at the height of the art nouveau period. You will make a stained glass panel from a variety of designs, learn how to cut glass, copper foil and solder.

There will be a variety of other objects on offer to make, giving you an idea of the large variety of pieces you can create with this technique. All materials, tools and a gourmet lunch will be included in the price of $130.

INTRODUCTION TO THE ART OF LEADLIGHTING.

This workshop will guide you through the history of glass, stained glass and the art of leadlighting, exploring different types of glass, their qualities and how best to use them. You will make a leadlight panel, learn about design theory, learn how to cut glass shapes and use various tools such as grozing pliers and lead pliers etc, colour theory, cut lead, lead, solder, putty and polish your panel.

This enables you to install the panel on an outside window as it will be water proof. All materials, tools and gourmet lunch will be included in the price of $130.
